Barrington Stage Raises Over $100,000 New Works Initiative at BSC IN NYC Gala

Barrington Stage Company, the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, under the leadership the Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, hosted its third annual BSC in NYC Gala to benefit BSC's New Works Initiative, November 2 in the Penthouse of the American Airlines Theatre at 227 W 42nd Street.

The BSC in NYC Gala attracted 150 patrons and raised over $100,000 to benefit BSC's News Works Initiative.
"I am thrilled that our patrons and donors are as excited as we are about Barrington Stage's continual emphasis on new work. We will be sharing some of these superb new plays and musicals with our audiences in 2016, " said Artistic Director Julianne Boyd.

The BSC in NYC event was Chaired by Eda Sorokoff and Co-Chaired by Dr. Lina Plantilla and Shirley Yohalem. The evening began with a cocktail reception, followed by welcomes from Board Chair Mary Ann Quinson and Board President Marita Glodt. BSC Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Musical Theatre Lab Artistic Producer William Finn spoke about BSC's New Works Initiative, including the acclaimed Musical Theatre Lab. followed by performances by Christopher Innvar, Aisha Hinds, Charles Socarides, Joel Waggoner, Janet Krupin, Matthew Krob, Joe Iconis and Molly Hager.

All proceeds benefit BSC's New Works Initiative, a vital program that nurtures the creation of new plays and musicals - the heart and soul of vibrant theater. Launched in 2012 with Mark St. Germain's world premiere Dr. Ruth, All the Way, now titled Becoming Dr. Ruth, the New Works Initiative is a vital Barrington Stage Company program that funds the creation of new plays and musicals. Over the years, BSC has produced twenty-three world premieres with nine original works moving on to stages in New York City, including the award-winning productions The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Freud's Last Session and Becoming Dr. Ruth.
