Barrington Stage Company Announces Melissa Manchester, Joe Iconis, and More in Special Events This Season Image

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, announced today the addition of four special events during their upcoming 2018 season. Tickets for the 2018 Season, as well as all four special events, are on sale now by calling (413) 236-8888 or online at www.barringtonstageco.org.

On Monday, August 13 at 8pm, BSC will present Melissa Manchester: The Platinum Standard on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage. Let's hear it for the boys! More than 25 years after singer/songwriter Melissa Manchester released Tribute, her 1989 album that honored the great female singers who influenced her, she turns the tables with The Fellas, a brilliant new tribute to the men, including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Dean Martin, and the iconic songs they made famous. Singing with a verve and emotional vulnerability that immediately captivates, the Grammy winner inventively reimagines these beloved classics, "the Platinum Standard" of popular music, both for their superb writing and their masterful performers. She turns "Chances Are" into a sly bossa nova and scats with seemingly impossible ease on "Love Is Just Around The Corner," while bringing an understated urgency to "Night and Day." Tickets range from $40-45. VIP tickets, which include premium seating and a post-show reception with Melissa Manchester, are available for $75.

Joe Iconis and his tribe of musical theater misfits return to the Mainstage, Monday, September 2 at 7pm for a special one-night-only concert- Joe Iconis and Family, Take Over The Mainstage! Back by popular demand! Come celebrate Labor Day with musical theater rabble rouser Joe Iconis and his family of supremely talented singers and musicians. These musical mavericks will make it clear why The New York Times calls Joe "the Future of Musical Theatre" with songs about anything and everything that make you laugh, cry, scream or drink. The perfect way to say goodbye to summer. Tickets range from $35-45. Limited onstage tickets are available for $60 and can only be purchased at the BSC Box Office or over the phone at (413) 236-8888. Joe Iconis and Family, Take Over The Mainstage! is sponsored by Karen and Bob Youdelman & Sheila and Hal Richman.

Join us Sunday, July 1 at 8pm at the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage for a reading of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House. In preparation for BSC's upcoming production of Lucas Hnath's hilarious new play A Doll's House, Part 2, we invite audiences to a reading of the 1879 masterwork by Henrik Ibsen that Hnath's play expands on. A Doll's House scandalized audiences when it debuted, questioning the roles of men and women in marriage when protagonist Nora walked out on her husband and children. While A Doll's House, Part 2 can be enjoyed without the original, we are excited to present an opportunity for our audiences to gain a deeper understanding of Nora's journey. Tickets are $15. General admission.

On August 30 and August 31 at 2pm at the the St. Germain Stage, Barrington Stage Company's Musical Theatre Lab will present a reading of the new musical, Fall Springs, with music and lyrics by Niko Tsakalakos, book and lyrics by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb. From the creator of Pool Boy comes Fall Springs, an irreverent, funny and relevant new musical. The town of Fall Springs is cash-strapped but sits directly on top of America's largest reserve of cosmetic essential oils. It has big dreams but at what cost? With new fracking techniques being recklessly implemented, the ground beneath Fall Springs is crumbling. Boulders, buildings, and the occasional bartender are being swallowed into the ground. And that's only the beginning. Tickets are $15. General admission.

Single tickets for the 2018 season are now on sale by calling (413) 236-8888 or online at www.barringtonstageco.org.
