Area singers, dancers, musicians, comics, and dramatic performers are invited to audition on June 17 and 18 for the Friends of Saint Anne's Hospital's production of "Arts for a Cure," a Broadway-revue-style presentation to benefit Saint Anne's Hospital Regional Cancer Care, to be held in September at Bristol Community College, Fall River.
Auditions will be held on June 17 and 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the Nannery Conference Room at Saint Anne's Hospital (Forest Street entrance). Performers of all ages and talents are invited to audition, either individually or as a member of a group. Those auditioning may bring sheet music, as piano accompaniment will be available. "Arts for a Cure" will be presented in September, with proceeds benefiting the Friends of Saint Anne's Hospital's $500,000 pledge to help underwrite Saint Anne's Hospital Regional Cancer Care. This is the sixth production staged by the Friends, with past presentations including "Fiddler on the Roof," "Oklahoma!", "Annie," "The Sound of Music, "and "Godspell."
Nationally accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons as a comprehensive community cancer program, Saint Anne's Hospital Regional Cancer Care provides the expertise of university cancer centers with the care and convenience of a community setting to nearly 6,000 patients annually. Services include hematology services, chemotherapy and other medical oncology therapies; advanced radiation therapy; access to national clinical trials through the National Cancer Institute and Dana-Farber/Partners CancerCare; numerous patient and family education and support programs; free health screening activities; and community and professional education. The program provides comprehensive cancer services at the Hudner Oncology Center in Fall River; additional radiation therapy and support services in Dartmouth, MA; radiation oncology consultation services in Newport, RI; and hematology/medical oncology consultation services at The Truesdale Clinic, Fall River.
