ArtsEmerson Announces TORREY PINES, A Queer Coming Of Age Adventure By Clyde Petersen ImageArtsEmerson, Boston's leading presenter of contemporary world theatre, proudly welcomes Clyde Petersen's award-winning Torrey Pines, a queer, coming-of-age road trip like no other. A stop-motion animated film, accompanied by a live band, the production is based on Petersen's true-life story growing up in the nineties when being transgendered wasn't something you could look up on the internet. It runs one week only, February 14 through 17, 2018 at the Emerson Paramount Center's Jackie Liebergott Black Box, located at 559 Washington Street in Downtown Boston. Tickets range from $60-$70 and may be purchased online at www.ArtsEmerson.org, by phone at 617.824.8400, or in person at the box office. Student, senior and group discounts are available.

"We're so looking forward to sharing Torrey Pines with Boston audiences," shares David Dower, Artistic Director for ArtsEmerson. "Clyde Petersen's witty views on this coming-of-age story-telling is fresh, fun, and funky. We applaud Petersen for creating a touching story told without many words--but accompanied by live music--offering a unique, multimedia experience for the senses."

About Torrey Pines Raised by a schizophrenic single mother who was consumed by conspiracy theories and family dysfunction, award-winning filmmaker Clyde Petersen's adolescent years unfolded like a surreal and confusing dream. Based on a true story, Torrey Pines tells a trans-queer-punk, coming-of-age story, rich with '90s pop-culture references-everything from Star Trek to Nintendo. Seattle's own Your Heart Breaks performs the quirky, catchy, and moving score, featuring cellist Lori Goldston, a one-time member of such beloved bands such as Nirvana and Mirah.
