Anthony de Mare is internationally recognized as one of the world's most versatile pianists, and one of its foremost champions of contemporary music. In the process, he has inspired the creation of dozens of new works by some of today's most distinguished artists.
"I Think About You" is the cabaret version of Anthony de Mare's latest initiative, "Liaisons: Re-Imagining Sondheim from the Piano." This weekend, July 18-19, 2014, during Bear Week 2014, will mark the premiere of "I Think About You," which is exclusively tailored for Provincetown audiences, directed by Jef Hall-Flavin. For tickets, visit The Art House website, or call 508-487-9222.
The show which includes exclusive new works from Steve Reich, Ricky Ian Gordon, Duncan Sheik, Nico Muhly, Jake Heggie, William Bolcom and more, bring the work of musical theater maestro Stephen Sondheim into the concert hall. De Mare will perform repertoire from Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, Follies, Company, Sunday in the Park with George and Into The Woods.
"Liaisons" is a landmark commissioning and concert project that perfectly expresses his vision to expand both the repertoire and the audience for contemporary music. As creator, performer and co-producer (with Rachel Colbert) of The Liaisons Project, de Mare has brought together many of today's most highly regarded emerging and established composers to create a solo piano piece based on a Sondheim.
