Actors' Shakespeare Project takes on Julius Caesar, Shakespeare's classic drama about politics and power. The struggle to claim leadership of a vast empire spirals out of control in this all-female production, led by Resident Acting Company members MariAnna Bassham* (Marc Antony), Marya Lowry* (Brutus), andBobbie Steinbach* (Cassius). Performances are November 15 - December 17, 2017 (Press performance Saturday, November 18 at 8 PM) at Studio 210, the black box theatre located adjacent to the Huntington Theatre in Boston. Directed by Bryn Boice, Julius Caesar dramatizes the downfall of a narcissistic ruler consolidating authority in a republic lurching towards dictatorship, threatening an end to the republic and changes in its power structure. Set in a futuristic parallel universe where women alone command the reins of government, this production of Julius Caesar examines the fundamental ways that women would lead if they held absolute power, and how shifts in that dynamic ultimately lead to extreme measures.

"Julius Caesar ultimately explores political ambition, moral license, and treachery amongst friends, and this dynamic adaptation evokes the best of science-fiction and dark fantasy to turn Rome on its head," says Boice. "What happens when women rule this Rome? What's different about women's petty rivalries, unchecked power, and overweening ambition? How are female alliances and jealousy different here, or are they? We're excited to explore and create this new world."

Resident Acting Company members include MariAnna Bassham* (Marc Antony), Marya Lowry* (Brutus), and Bobbie Steinbach* (Cassius). Other cast members include Liz Adams (Caesar), Julee Antonellis (Cicero), Erin Eva Butcher (Calpurnia), MaConnia Chesser* (Casca), Jade Guerra (Metellus Cimber), and Charlotte Kinder (Portia).
