Fridays at 8pm from September 2nd through October 14th, ImprovBoston presents 1.21 Jigowatts, a tribute, parody, and labor of love dedicated to the legendary film franchise Back to the Future. 1.21 Jigowatts is a 75-minute improvised comedy that follows the films' famous characters, including Marty McFly, Doc Brown, Lorraine and George McFly, and Biff Tannen, in an adventure to time periods as suggested by the audience. 1.21 Jigowatts will take audiences through the space-time continuum while mixing classic situations and character elements with new comic moments that are fresh and hilarious time after (altered) time.

The cast includes seasoned performers Laura Burns, Alex LeBaron, Brendan Mulhern, Ryan Petti, and Lori Strauss, who have studied and performed in comedy theaters across the northeast and throughout the country. The group developed a show in keeping with the tone and key moments of the classic movie while remaining totally improvised.

This time last year, Boston-based comic and producer Rob Crean was doing a Marty McFly impression as part of his stand up set, while separately comedian Dennis Hurley (TV and film credits include The Daily Show, Let Them Chirp A While and Inventory) was creating video sketches of his own Doc Brown character parody. ImprovBoston Geek Week Producer Kevin Harrington enlisted director Peter Fenzel to fill out the cast and develop the show for ImprovBoston's annual Geek Week festival in April 2011. This 6-week run follows a that sold-out performance.

"1.21 Jigowatts is a salute to one of the greatest sci-fi comedies of all time. Nestled between two Ivy League institutions, ImprovBoston has always a place in our hearts and our stage for all things Geek, Nerd and Sci-Fi," said Improvboston Artistic Director Will Luera. "After a successful run during Geek Week, it made sense to put this show front and center to showcase not only a talented cast and great show but also our utmost respect for a movie that defined 80's sci-fi comic nerds like myself and most of the ImprovBoston community."

Where will Doc and Marty find the elusive 1.21 Jigowatts they need to get Back to the Future this week? Make like a tree and buy a ticket - the night is sure to to wow any Back to the Future fan.
