Best known to generations as a prolific songwriter, social commentator, master storyteller, actor and activist, Arlo Guthrie brings his "Alice's Restaurant 50th Anniversary Tour" to Morrison Center. The tour will feature the full Alice's Restaurant Massacree along with many favorites from Arlo's catalog.
Nearly 50 years ago, Arlo Guthrie debuted a clever, rambling tirade of a song at the Newport Folk Festival that seemed to sum up all the sentiments of the 1960s counterculture. Alice's Restaurant, the hit song and the record, launched his career, later became a Hollywood film, and helped foster a new political commitment among his generation. American folk music royalty, Guthrie carries on his family's legacy in concerts that combine inspirational music with timeless stories steeped in social consciousness.
