The Center and Company of Fools (COF) is offering a voice acting class with professional stage, screen, and voiceover actress Irene Ziegler. The class runs July 7-9, from 1 to 3pm, at the Meriwether building in Hailey.
Voiceover (or voice acting) refers to the voices you hear on radio and television commercials, cartoons, videogames, on-hold messages, and documentary narrations, to name a few. This class will introduce you to the possibilities, get you comfortable behind a microphone, and help you put together a demo in a diverse range of voiceover styles, from announcers to characters. Even if you have no desire to make a living at it, voiceovers are a fun way to explore and expand your vocal acting range.
Voiceover, said Denise Simone, Core Company Artist, is a new class for The Center and COF. "We've never offered a voiceover class, so we are thrilled to be offering one this summer," said Simone. "We brought Ziegler out for our Enchanted April production in July, but with her 30 years in the voiceover industry, we had to offer a class!"
Ziegler is an accomplished performer, who has been in the voiceover business for 30 years and also works on the stage and screen. She was most recently seen as the "Broadcast Woman" in the fourth season finale of The Walking Dead. She has voiced everything from a talking Mercedes Benz to your cell phone's GPS. She is also an internationally produced playwright, and the proud recipient of the Mary Roberts Rinehart Award (Drama), and the Theresa Pollak prize for Excellence in the Arts. Ziegler teaches acting at the University of Richmond, and is at work on a new play.
Tuition for the voice acting class is $150 for Center members and $175 for nonmembers. For more information and to sign up, go to sunvalleycenter.org or call 208.726.9491.
