This summer Company of Fools (COF) will present Matthew Barber's award-winning romantic comedy, Enchanted April. This production will run now through July 26, 2014 at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey, Idaho. Scroll down for a first look at the cast in action!

Richmond Theatre Critics Circle award winner and guest director Steve Perigard returns to direct this magical show with a standout cast that features local favorites Jana Arnold and Andrew Alburger and guest actors Neil Brookshire, Suzanne Gray, David Janeski, Susan Sanford, Aly Wepplo and Irene Ziegler.

Mr. Barber's play, based on the novel by Elizabeth von Arnim, won the 2003 John Gassner Award for outstanding new American Play and a Tony Award. The play tells of two discontented housewives in 1920s London who rent a villa in Italy for a holiday away from their bleak marriages. They recruit two very different English women to share the cost; a bitter elderly woman and a beautiful young socialite. As they all fall under the spell of Bella Italia what they learn, about love, life and themselves, surprises each of them and leads down paths they never thought they would take.

The creative team for Enchanted April includes Joe Lavigne (Set Designer), Lynne Hartman (Lighting Designer), Darrin M. Pufall (Costume Design), Ann Price (Dialect Coach) and K.O. Ogilvie (Stage Manager).

Steve Perigard (Direction) returns to COF having previously directed productions of Noises Off and Steel Magnolias. Steve lives in Richmond, Virginia where his work as a director and performer has been seen on the stages of Virginia Repertory, Cadence Theatre, Richmond Shakespeare, Barksdale Theatre, Theatre IV, Theatre Gym, Firehouse Theatre, Theatre Virginia, SPARC, Theatre VCU, Randolph Macon College and The Collegiate School where he serves as the Upper School Director of Theatre.

Matthew Barber (Playwright) was born in Los Angeles, California, and studied film, theatre, and literature at UCLA. Moving to San Francisco following graduation, he enjoyed early careers as an arts journalist and publicist, while continuing to work in a creative capacity with a variety of small theater companies and arts organizations. His stage adaptation of Enchanted April premiered at Connecticut's Hartford Stage in 2000, followed by a Broadway production in 2003, earning the John Gassner Award for Outstanding New American Play and Drama League and Tony Award nominations for Best Play. He is the recipient of Wurlitzer Foundation and Art OMI fellowships, and is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. Matthew Barber currently lives in New York City. His original screenplay, Independence, and a new stage play, Eleanor & Abel, are in development.
