Hailed by the Times of London as an "exceedingly yummy operatic cake," Donizetti's rousing La Fille du Régiment (The Daughter of the Regiment) is one of Donizetti's most cherished - and perhaps one of the most vocally challenging - operas. It includes the famous tenor aria "Ah! mes amis, quel jour de fête," often described as the "Mount Everest" for tenors due to its nine high Cs! Opera Idaho's 2010-2011 Artist-in-Residence, Tara Victoria Smith, stars as Marie.
