The Music Theatre of Idaho presents its 2010 season, including shows like THE SOUND OF MUSIC and INTO THE WOODS.

Their first upcoming show is I DO! I DO! by the authors of THE FANTASTICKS, Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones. The story of marriage is at the center of this work. The show begins with Michael and Agnes on their wedding day and traces their life together over a period of 50 years, until the day they leave their house to the next pair of newlyweds. In that time we watch them go through their wedding night jitters, raise a family, negotiate mid-life crises, quarrel, separate, reconcile and grow old together, all lovingly to the strains of a tuneful, charming score which includes the standard "My Cup Runneth Over."

I DO! I DO! will run Friday February 12 - Sunday February 14 at 6:30pm.

Then THE SOUND OF MUSIC takes the stage February 19, 20, 26, and 27 at 7:30 pm with matinees on the 20th and 27th at 1:30 pm.

The final collaboration between Rodgers and Hammerstein is a theatre classic. When a postulant proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain, and they marry. Upon returning from their honeymoon, they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain's immediate service to their navy.

Next is WILLY WONKA, Roald Dahl's timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir. The stage adaptation of "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory," features the songs from the classic family film "Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory." Come join Willy Wonka and the Oompa-Loompas, 5 children and their chaperones on a journey through the bowels of the most famous chocolate factory in the world!

WILLY WONKA will run April 23, 24, 30 and May 1 at 7:30 pm with matinees on April 24 and May 1 at 1:30 pm.

In June, go INTO THE WOODS with Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's fractured fairy tale. When a Baker and his Wife learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk). Everyone's wish is granted at the end of Act One, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, with disastrous results. What begins a lively irreverent fantasy in the style of "The Princess Bride" becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.

INTO THE WOODS with play June 18, 19, 25, and 26 at 7:30 pm with matinees on June 19 and 26 at 1:30 pm.
