Music Theatre of Idaho takes on the quirky 1960s musical send-up "Hairspray." on July 28th and 30th at the Nampa Civic Center.

HAIRSPRAY is the story of how plus-sized, spunky Tracy Turnblad (Casey Williams, pictured) wins a spot on a local TV dance show. With the support of her mom, Edna, and her wacky group of friends, she becomes a celebrity, integrates the show and wins the love of heartthrob Link Larkin. The witty script by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan and catchy songs by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman transformed this story based on a John Waters cult film into a bubbly Broadway success.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. July 28, 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. July 30, Nampa Civic Center, 311 3rd St. S. $16 general, $15 seniors, $14 youth. All tickets are $20 at the door, if available.
