On November 9 and 10, Company of Fools and the Sun Valley Center for the Arts present Happily Ever After?- an enchanting concert at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey that explores fairy tales in the American musical theatre. Happily Ever After? will feature music from some of Broadway's favorite fairy-tale musicals including Into the Woods, Cinderella, Once Upon a Mattress and The little Mermaid. R.L. Rowsey and John Glenn direct an ensemble cast of extraordinary talent-from Broadway and the Wood River Valley-to create the happiest of evenings. This program has been fully sponsored by Jeri Wolfson and all tickets revenue will support the evolving partnership between the Company of Fools and the Sun Valley Center for the Arts.
From September 28 through November 30, 2012 the Sun Valley Center for the Arts is exploring the fairy tale through the visual arts, classes for teens and adults, music and lectures. The project is an exploration of fairy tales' roots, commonalities and hidden meanings. In addition to music from a wide range of Broadway fairy tale-based musicals will be several songs from Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's musical Into the Woods. The title song from Into the Woods truly captures why fairy tales have captivated young and old through the centuries:
"Into the woods to find there's hope
Of getting through the journey.
Into the woods, each time you go,
There's more to learn of what you know.
Into the woods, but not too slow--
Into the woods, it's nearing midnight--
Into the woods to mind the wolf,
To heed the witch, to honor the giant,
To mind, to heed, to find, to think, to teach, to join, to go to the Festival!
Into the woods,
Then out of the woods-
And happy ever after!"
For this special production, Company of Fools has assembled a stellar ensemble of guest and local artists featuring Jana Arnold, Teri Bibb, Garrett Long, John Mauldin and Andy Umberger.
