This winter, Company of Fools will present Nick Payne's critically acclaimed play Constellations. Constellations will run February 15 through March 4, 2017, at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey.
Constellations is about free will and friendship; it's also about quantum multiverse theory, love and honey. This spellbinding romantic journey begins with a simple encounter between a man and a woman. Marianne, a physicist, and Roland, a beekeeper, meet at a party and go for a drink, or perhaps they don't. What happens next defies the boundaries of the world we think we know, delving into the infinite possibilities of their relationship and raising questions about the difference between choice and destiny.
The standout cast, directed by Denise Simone, includes guest actors Cassandra Bissell (Proof) as Marianne and Neil Brookshire (Peter and the Starcatcher, Proof, Enchanted April, The Woman in Black) as Roland. Rounding out the creative team for Constellations are Joe Lavigne (Set Design), Ann Price (Dialects) and K.O. Ogilvie (Stage Manager).
"When I first read Constellations, I knew at once that it was a play we had to share with our valley," said director Denise Simone. "It is mesmerizing in its storytelling and without a doubt one of the most beautiful plays on love that I have seen in quite a while. It is a play that reminds us all that love is the only thing worth exploring across countless universes."
Nick Payne's plays include If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet (Bush Theatre and Roundabout Theatre Company, New York), Wanderlust (Royal Court Theatre), Sophocles' Electra (Gate Theatre), One Day When We Were Young (Paines Plough/Sheffield Theatres and Shoreditch Town Hall), Lay Down Your Cross (Hampstead Theatre), Constellations (Royal Court Theatre and Duke of York's), and The Same Deep Water as Me (Donmar Warehouse). He is the recipient of the 2009 George Devine Award for Most Promising Playwright, the 2012 Harold Pinter Playwright's Award, and the 2012 London Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Play for Constellations.
