Home to Treasure Valley's only Certified Improvisation Educators, CSz Boise has announced their latest season of improv classes for children and adults. ComedySportz, which is the only world-recognized sport of competitive improvisation, is offering classes for children between the ages of 10-13 and adult improv classes for beginning and intermediate students age 14 years and older.
The children's improv class begins April 15 and will be held on Saturdays from 1:00pm-2:30pm for 8 weeks. The class is ideal for both introverted or extroverted kids as many studies have gone to shown that children thrive on improv classes, especially those living with autism--as noted in a recent article by The Atlantic. The class utilizes role-playing techniques for students that translate to 'real-world' situations as children grow up and are faced with important milestones--like becoming a high school freshman or handling their first job interview alone.
"If your child has any interest in pretending, stories, or theater arts they will love improv," explains CSz Boise's Executive Director, RAndy Reese. He goes on to say, "Our improv class helps create a safe, fun and authentic environment for kids to practice, where their mistakes don't matter."
Classes are priced at $109 for one child and include a class t-shirt. Discounts are also available for parents who sign up two kids--$169 for two students, which also includes two class t-shirts. Space is limited, so parents are encouraged to sign up soon to reserve a space for their child online.
Adult Improv 101 begins on April 19th, with the 8-week class scheduled on Wednesday from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm. No experience is required for the 101 class and is ideal for anyone looking to improve their teaching, meeting or interviewing skills while becoming more flexible in ideas and problem solving, cultivating happier relationships or simply searching for an avenue to have fun.
Both adult improv classes are $120 for one student or $180 for two students. Space is limited, so those 14 and older are encouraged to sign up immediately to ensure a spot. Registration for either class can be done online.
Reese and his team are looking forward to leading the next group of children and adult students to great discoveries, as his instructors work to meld students from different backgrounds into a united group--all while never forgetting the importance of having fun in improv.
