Christian Youth Theater - North Idaho (CYT-NI) presents Narnia the Musical at the Salvation Army Kroc Community Theater, 1765 W.Golf Course Rd., Coeur d'Alene, ID. Eighty two local school children ages 8-18 make up the cast with an additional 20+ on crew all overseen by over 70 adult volunteers. All of the children are currently taking theater arts classes in CYT's after-school theater educational program.
Based on the 1950 C. S. Lewis tale ''The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,'' the show is the rare family musical designed for children that doesn't talk down to them. ''Narnia'' tells the story of four schoolchildren who unexpectedly plunge through a magical wardrobe into a glistening forest kingdom of perpetual winter. The treacherous White Witch who presides over this ominous Arctic landscape lures Edmund ), the most insecure of the four, into her clutches with sweets. His rescue, supervised by the benevolent, golden-maned Lion, Aslan, who has returned after a long absence to reclaim the kingdom as his own, becomes an epic struggle between good and evil.
