Boise Contemporary Theatre will continue its 5x5 Reading Series in May. The 5x5 Reading Series offers audiences a rare opportunity to engage with new plays in their earliest stages, brought to life by talented actors from Boise and across the country. These readings strip theater down to its essentials—writer, actor, and audience—creating a uniquely direct and powerful experience.
Upcoming readings will take place on Monday, May 4 at 7:00 PM and Monday, June 15 at 7:00 PM.

Set against the backdrop of America’s Bicentennial, Summer, 1976 is a deeply moving and insightful exploration of friendship, memory, and transformation. The play follows the evolving relationship between Diana, a fiercely independent artist and single mother, and Alice, a young housewife searching for her place in the world. Over the course of one pivotal summer in Ohio, the two women navigate motherhood, ambition, and identity—ultimately shaping each other’s paths in unexpected ways.on.
