Boise Contemporary Theater (Matthew Clark, Artistic Director; Helene Peterson Managing Director) announces a $25,000 gift from The Shubert Foundation to support the operations of the Company. This is the largest gift to BCT from the Foundation.
Founded in 1997, Boise Contemporary Theater creates, produces and presents vibrant and dynamic professional theater that illuminates enduring themes while exploring contemporary issues and ideas.
The Shubert Foundation is dedicated to sustaining and advancing the live performing arts in the United States, with a particular emphasis on theatre and a secondary focus on dance. The Foundation’s Board of Directors believes that the most effective way to encourage the artistic process is by providing the general operating support that reinforces the structure that nurtures its development.
The Shubert Foundation was established in 1945 in New York City by Lee and J.J. Shubert in memory of their brother Sam, and is the sole shareholder of The Shubert Organization, Inc., which currently owns/operates 21 theatres: 17 on Broadway, one Off-Broadway theatre (The Little Shubert), and one each in Boston, Philadelphia and Washington, DC The Shubert Archive, a working repository of more than six million theatrical documents and related items, operates under The Shubert Foundation aegis.
Matthew Clark, BCT Artistic Director says, “It's a phenomenal honor for Boise Contemporary Theater to be recognized and supported by The Shubert Foundation. Their grant to BCT will have a direct affect on everything we do, from premiering new work to training young theater artists. It means a lot.”
