I must say that I was thrilled when I saw that the cast of THINGS MY MOHTER TAUGHT ME were mostly new to the Boise Little Theatre Stage. To top it off, it was Sarah Church's directorial debut. I saw the show in the middle of the run. Time enough for the bugs to be worked out.
I think, as a cast of many newbies, that they did a good job. Comedies are hard to do and although a few lines with different timing could have been funnier, they still got quite a few chuckles out of the audience. Every one of the cast members brought something new to the stage and it will be fun to see that brought out in future performances.
The set was plain, but that was called for in the script. There was nothing "spectacular" about this production, but again, it was not called for with this script. It's a cute story of a couple moving in together before they are married. They are moving across a few states for a fresh start. The hijinks start to happen because the boyfriend decides to propose and invites the parents to town for the proposal.
It was a pleasant way to spend a few hours.
