Treasure Valley Children's Theater, LLC, presents Treasure Valley Youth Theater, Inc performing SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK LIVE! JR. Oh, the nostalgia! I loved "School House Rock" on television when I was young and I purchased them on DVDs to watch with my own children. I could probably sing them all by heart (except for the more resent ones on money and elections) and I did have trouble keeping myself from singing with the young actors on stage.

That is a good sign. I was not distracted by any of the young actors on the stage, not a one of them pulled focus. They were some of the most professional actors I have seen. Let alone the fact that they were children ranging in age from 10 - 17 years of age.

All of the young actors were having so much fun on the stage. You could see them looking to each other and supporting each other. They were singing their hearts out enjoying themselves, even all of those who sang their solos. All of the soloists were great, I am not necessarily saying that their voices were; however: each one sang with such enjoyment that the quality of their voices did not interfere with the enjoyment of the performance.

There was adult supervision but the young actors were also responsible for all of the props and the set pieces. It is wonderful to see team building and problem solving on this level for the young people in the metro area. I am sure they will remember their time working on this show for years to come.

The theater company is still finding places for performances and this time it was at Meridian Middle School. I do have to admit there were some issues with the sound system and with the lighting, but for it being in a space that the company is not used to they adapted nicely.

I would definitely encourage anyone who have children between the ages of 10 - 17 to audition for the next performance: Peter Pan Jr. They will knock it out of the park if this performance is any indication.
