I had been having one of "those" weeks. Everything was going wrong. Something was always behind at work, I was constant late for everything, and I HATE being late. Well, Friday was still a day of the week and yes, you guessed it. I was running late.

We get to The Drink Pub & Grill late. The show had already begun. Grr. Now we had to find seats. We were running late so we hadn't eaten, we were looking for a table. CHICKS N' GIGGLES packed the house, except for two seats -right up front. So let's just put the cherry on the cake and make sure everyone sees that I was late.

The venue was a really nice bar and grill. The atmosphere was comfortable and the view, before it got dark, was of a lake. The had electric fireplaces which was much appreciated on the chilly November night.

CHICKS N' GIGGLES is an improv comedy group made up of men and women, I guess the men are the "giggles"? I was under the impression it was all women from the name, but nope, men were on the stage too. And they all worked well together.

I sat right down after the week I had had and arriving late and turned on my iPad to take my notes. They were going to have to work extra hard to get through to me.

They started (from my point of view) with "What are you doing?" . They ask the audience for their initials and they have to be doing something that matches. Lo and behold, mine were the first initials asked for. I gave all three and they used the first two so there were "twisting alligators" and "talking ambiguously" and such. I started to smile. They went to three initials after they had warmed up a bit.

The next game was "revolver". 4 improvers, 4scenes. The scenes revolve either to the right or left and each scene advances each time we see it. The scenes were "cleaners", "an aardvark for a pet", "kissing cousins" and "zip-up pajamas". I was giggling by this part. The fact that the audience came up with such bazaar topics and what those improvers were doing with the topics. Definite giggles.

The next game was "New Choice". When ever the announcer wanted them to the improvers had to change their choice. It amazes me as to how much they can change and how quickly. They somehow got from the audience the topics of "NASCAR" and "toilet paper". Sometimes, I wonder more about the audiences who go to these then the performers who actually use their suggestions.

The next game was "Hey Waiter!". This game involves audience participation, but be careful... They have rules about these things. They got the participant and this game is all about the puns. There were a few that got the gafaws from the audience and the groans. And the audience member of the night, Jen, was great as she started to get into her part as the cranky patron of the restaurant.

The night was full of games that the CHICKS N' GIGGLES troupe played through the night "Two Two-Headed Monster", "Musical Number" (for those in the audience celebrating something special), "Infomercial", "Lines", "Dating Game" "Triple Play Substitute" and "Storytime".

Dating Game was fun and James, the "Bachelor", was great. He was asking questions I never would have thought of. He asked one question of "bachelorette no. 3", and after the answer he muttered "I thought I knew who you were." But he managed to guess really close and nailed the other two. During Triple Play Substitute James was again the featured player and managed to guess all the three original activities plus what each activity was substituted with even though they were very bazaar substitutions. Kudos to James!

Storytime was also a great featured game because they brought up some special guests: Ron and Jon from Insert Foot Theatre, Keith from Recycled Minds, Tito, Ashley and Carly from the Boise Improv Theater Class. The Boise comedy scene seems to be gaining momentum and to help the scene along is Megan of CHICKS N' GIGGLES organizing the First Annual Idaho Laugh Fest.

I would like to thank CHICKS N' GIGGLES for inviting me to review their show. By the end of the night my husband and I were both laughing. Thank you for curing my bad week.
