Boise Contemporary Theater's education program, BCT Theater Lab, presents two new plays, Ctrl+Alt+Del and LIMB FOR LIMB written and performed by young artists of the Treasure Valley.
Ctrl+Alt+Del: 'Welcome to the near future. Tired of the bleak, dismal, polluted world? Log on to Pandora. We have beauty, clean air, stars! Looking for adventure, love, status? Look no further. Where will this game take you? Where ever you wish. As long as you can pay, of course.' This play takes us to Pandora, a virtual world the citizens of the near future use to escape from their dreary lives. When three hackers log on trying to shut this unnatural world down, they run into many obstacles...including love.
LIMB FOR LIMB: In a greenhouse tucked away by a rocky cliff, a magical, wonderful tree is coming of age. Tonight, for one night only, it will give you exactly what you want. There's only one other tree like it on earth, and it's dying -- so we must do everything in our power to keep it alive. Written and conceived entirely by Theater Lab students (ages 12-18), these plays rocket past audience expectations, exploring the complexities of human relationships, perception, and trust all in a uniquely fresh, contemporary voice.
You can see both plays on the BCT stage, located at 9th and Fulton in Downtown Boise, May 7, 8, & 9, at 7:00 PM. There is also a matinee at 2pm on Saturday May 9, 2015. Tickets are available online at BCTheater.org or by calling the BCT box office at 331-9224 x 205. Tickets are $10 per person or $5 for students.
BCT Theater Lab provides students, ages twelve to eighteen, an opportunity to train with professional actors, designers and playwrights, in order to develop skills as artists, collaborators and communicators to tell stories that have never been told. Founded in 1997, BCT creates, produces, and presents vibrant and dynamic professional theater that illuminates enduring themes while exploring contemporary issues and ideas.
