The River, a musical adaptation of Jim Leonard's Anatomy of Gray, explores themes of loss and redemption in the late 1800s. The story follows a mysterious doctor as he arrives in a rural town just before a life-altering plague strikes. This staged reading will feature music and lyrics by Beth Thornley and Rob Cairns, with musical direction by Anthony Smith, and includes a talkback session with the creative team and community members. The festival is part of Red Mountain Theatre’s seventh annual Human Rights New Works Festival, showcasing new theatre pieces that spark important conversations.
