The Rhythm/Da Blues is a critically acclaimed solo show by writer and Birmingham native, Erika E. Wade. This rhythmic and energetic show follows a young woman named Lena Darling as she figures out all the joys and pains of growing up Black and woman in The Magic City. Through ups, downs, and a few missed cues, Lena finds her rhythm thanks to the coaching of a village of matriarchs. The one woman show runs June 10-11 in Birmingham, Al at the Red Mountain Theatre. The show was first professionally produced Off-Off Broadway in New York, New York at the 13thStreet Repertory Theater. When asked why bring the show to Birmingham, Alabama, Wade responded, It takes a boldness to play somebody while they are alive. Im in a place with my performance and my goals in life where I can comfortably bring a show to the city that they deserve.
