Twenty-four acts will compete in the 2010 TAKE THE STAGE amateur talent competition to be held June 4, 5, and 6 at the Whole Backstage Theater in Guntersville on Rayburn Avenue. The performers, selected from audition submissions which ended May 8, are from around North Alabama, and one act hails from Kentucky.
The competition entries are, by hometown: Albertville - Erik Cederholm, Peaceful Disturbance (band), AJ Pollard, Colton Smith, Taylor Williams; Altoona - Dillon Dyer, Anna Eubanks, Christopher Short, Kara Short; Arab - Kate Fleming, Taylor Lamm, Haley Stinson; Boaz - the Ambush Dance Team, Rachel Faulkner, Caleb Tarvin; Brownsville, KY - Laney Meredith; Guntersville - Chris Bryan, Megan Burr, Mason Kirkland, Russell McCrory, Kristen Parsley; Madison - Melani Bigger; Oneonta - Abby McCullough; Scottsboro - ElizaBeth Smith.The contestants will each compete in one of two preliminary rounds on June 4 and 5, and will be scored by a panel of judges which will include representatives of education, business, politics, and the entertainment industry. The top ten scoring acts from the preliminary rounds will advance to the final round on Sunday, June 6 to vie for first, second and third place cash and prizes totaling at least $1,000.
The TAKE THE STAGE talent competition is a fundraising event for the Whole Backstage Theater. Tickets for the shows will go on sale beginning May 19.
