The award-winning Wetumpka Depot Players present The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, for two showings on October 21 at 7:30pm and October 23 at 2pm. The play will also be the Depot's entry to ACTFEST17, Alabama's state community theatre festival on October 31.

"Tennessee Williams is one of America's most recognizable playwrights," said director Tom Salter. "The play is a fascinating memory play that takes audiences into the depression era home of the Wingfield family. The characters in the play are based on William's own family members and the play is produced world wide with numerous Broadway revivals."

The play features Stephen Dubberley as Tom Wingfield, Kristy Meanor as Amanda Wingfield, Eve Harmon as Laura Wingfield and Christopher Sims as the Gentleman Caller. The Glass Menagerie tells the story of Tom, who wants to escape from his mundane factory job, Laura his fragile sister who spends her days absorbed in the fantasy world of her glass figurines and Amanda, a delusional and faded southern belle who longs for her glory days. The entrance of the Gentleman Caller propels the play in a direction that is least expected. The play is filled with warmth, humor and heartbreak.

The Depot Players have a rich history with state, regional and national theatre festivals. Depot productions All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, The Fantasticks, and Night Mother have all advanced and been recognized for excellence at Southeastern Theatre Conference. The Depot's production of Second Samuel advanced to the national festival in 2011.

Tickets may be purchased by calling the box office at 334.868.1440 or visiting wetumpkadepot.com The theatre is located at 300 S Main St in the historic district of downtown Wetumpka.
