The Whole Backstage Theatre in Guntersville announces auditions for the female lead singing roles for the original musical written by Tim Hays and David Chupp, "Lovin' the Sixties". Auditions will be Monday and Tuesday Oct. 5 and 6 at 6:30 pm at the Whole Backstage Theatre, 1120 Rayburn Ave in Guntersville.

This is more a "Jukebox Musical" than a musical revue. The lead actors will be portraying characters with dialog as well as performing challenging vocals. "Lovin' the Sixties" is the story of six couples whose memories of the past are tested as they re-live their "glory" days and the ups and downs of their romantic pasts. Female characters need to be able to sing both lead and harmony in the styles of The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, and other well-noted singers of the decade. Some light dancing will be required from all the characters. All female characters must be willing to learn the girl group moves that were famously used in the original songs. Because lead singers will be singing backup on all other songs, there will be a vocal practice once a week led by the vocal director, Ken Patterson, starting two weeks after auditions.

CDs are available with the audition tracks at the Whole Backstage office. "Lovin' the Sixties" will run April 30 through May 9, 2010 with an additional performance July 4th on a downtown Guntersville stage. For more information on this or any other Whole Backstage Theatre event visit online at www.wholebackstage.com or call the theatre office at 256-582-SHOW (7469). See you at the theatre!
