To kick off Red Mountain Theatre Company's (RMTC) production of 42nd Street, RMTC is joining forces with the Forest Park/South Avondale Neighborhood Association to beautify Birmingham's very own 42nd Street on Saturday, June 22 from 8:00am to 10:00am.

In 2005, the seeds were planted for a plan to create a miniature garden in front of Avondale Villa, but the project never bloomed due to lack of materials and labor. The cast of RMTC's 42nd Street as well as RMTC Dress Circle Society and Youth Program members will all be pitching in to bring the original plan to life and create a beautiful garden in this historic Birmingham neighborhood.

To add even more excitement to the event, the 42nd Street cast will entertain the crowd with a vocal performance of "Sunny Side of Every Situation."

Avondale Villa is located at 4220 Woodvale Road, Birmingham, AL 35222.

Red Mountain Theatre Company's (RMTC) Professional Series brings the Broadway classic 42nd Street to life July 11-August 4, 2013 at the Dorothy Jemison Day Theater (800 19th Street North). Set in 1933, 42nd Street is a big, bold tap-dancing musical that takes you on a journey with aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer with musical hits like "We're in the Money," "Lullaby of Broadway," and "42nd Street." With sparkling dance numbers and old-fashioned romance, this toe-tapping classic has something for everyone.
