Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation Scene-for-scene remake created by three Mississippi teens in 1982
We are excited to present this extremely rare screening of the semi legendary recreation of "Raiders of the Lost Ark," made by three 12-year-olds. Chris Strompolos, Eric Zala, and Jayson Lamb started shooting in 1982 - and didn't have a clue what they were getting themselves into. Wrapping seven years later in 1989, their film was shelved and forgotten until 2003 when Eli Roth (Cabin Fever) screened a bootleg copy in the middle of the night at Austin's legendary Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The rest is history.
Their ingenuity is astonishing: Watch for the rolling boulder, a submarine, live snakes, the heart-thudding truck sequence, the melting face, the same copy of a 1936 Life magazine that was used in the original, and flames, flames and more flames. All shot right in their own Mississippi backyards.Producer Scott Rudin and Paramount Pictures have purchased the intellectual property rights to their childhood, and a feature film is now in production with Dan Clowes (Ghost World) penning the script.
