The next to last live audition session for the Whole Backstage Theatre's 2010 TAKE THE STAGE amateur talent competition will be Saturday, May 1st, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Whole Backstage Theater in Guntersville on Rayburn Avenue. The competition is open to amateur performers of all kinds ages 8 and up from Alabama and surrounding states, and will be presented June 3-6.
Talent can be any type of amateur entertainment suitable for a family audience. Those interested can come audition at any time during the period - no appointment is needed. Microphones and a sound system will be provided; a piano will be available for entrants who require one. Entry forms will also be available at the audition. Only one live audition date remains after this one, on Saturday, May 8th, also from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Up to sixty acts will be selected to compete in the preliminary rounds of TAKE THE STAGE. Acts will be scored by a panel of judges which will include representatives of education, business, politics, and the entertainment industry. The top ten scoring acts from the preliminary rounds will advance to the final round of competition, to vie for first, second and third place cash and prizes totaling at least $1,000.
Applicants who wish can instead mail in or deliver a video audition with their form and entry fee. The entry form and contest rules can be downloaded from the Whole Backstage web site - www.wholebackstage.com - or can be picked up at the theater office during normal business hours. The TAKE THE STAGE talent competition is a fundraising event for the Whole Backstage Theater.
