Central Alabama Theater presents Actor Mark Cabus in his acclaimed one-man stage version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol in its Alabama premier this December.
The veteran actor plays 36 characters from the classic tale of transformation and redemption at The Clubhouse On Highland, tonight and tomorrow, December 22 & 23 at 7:30 p.m.
In the spirit of the show, Central Alabama Theater will hold a food drive to benefit Birmingham AIDS Outreach (BAO) Food Bank. Ticket holders who bring two non-perishable food items to the show will be entered for a drawing to win two future CAT Cabaret tickets. The winner will be drawn by Mark and announced directly after the show on the 23rd.
"I've done this show in Tennessee and Georgia for several years," said Cabus, "I'm honored that Central Alabama Theater is offering it to my neighbors here in Alabama as part of their second season."
Cabus toured this critically acclaimed production throughout the state of Tennessee for the past eight years, performing for more than 20,000 children and adults. "Cabus delivers a tour de force, acting out all the parts in Charles Dickens' Holiday classic and making it seem as if that's the only way it should be done...," wrote Kevin Nance, the former theatre critic for The Tennessean in Nashville. "This Christmas Carol is one of the smallest yet most sensational shows of the year. Don't miss it."
Raised in Johnson City, Tennessee, Cabus is a skilled actor and director who was classically trained in England and in New York. He has performed all over the world in film and television as well as Off-Broadway and in regional and children's theater. He's recognized in his home of Atlanta for his work with the Georgia Shakespeare Company, Theatrical Outfit and Theatre Emory. His movie and TV credits range from the Warner Bros. blockbuster "The Client" and HBO's Emmy-winning film "Against the Wall" to the Academy Award winning feature "Selma".
