In the tradition of Honky Tonk Angels, Always... Patsy Cline and Beehive the Alabama Shakespeare Festival will complete its 2009-10 season with the summer-fun musical Cowgirls, June 11-27.

ASF is located at 1 Festival Drive in Montgomery's beautiful Blount Cultural Park.In this laugh a minute musical a country-western saloon owner is going to lose her family business to the bank if she doesn't come up with some cash fast. So, a grand re-opening fundraiser is planned starring a hot all-girl country band. But when the band turns out to be more into Chopin than Shania, everyone must find their country roots in 24 hours in order to save the saloon.Featured songs include Don't Call Me Trailer Trash, Honky Tonk Girl, Kingdom of Country and Saddle Tramp Blues.The New York Times raved that Cowgirls is "A joyous slapstick hoedown!" Newsday described the musical as a "Fun, honky-tonk romp."This program/project has been made possible by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
