Merrimack Hall is proud to present Hollywood icon Lee Meriwether and her husband, actor Marshall Borden, as the narrators of "Upon Their Shoulders." Chosen as Miss America in 1955, Lee's acting career began with her portrayal of Catwoman in Batman (1966) and includes such television shows as "The Time Tunnel," "The Today Show," "Barnaby Jones," and "All My Children," among many others. Marshall's acting credits include "Quantum Leap," "One Life to Live," and "A Walton Wedding."

The premiere production of our season, "Upon Their Shoulders: The Merrimack Story," was written and researched by local playwright Ron Harris. The play illustrates the rich history of Huntsville through the lives of real people who labored in the city's textile mills. Dramatizing real events that occurred at Merrimack Mills and the surrounding mill village where Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center is located today, the play traces the development of child labor laws, mandatory school laws, and the socioeconomic impact on our city today.
