In Talk to the Demon, Wim Vandekeybus works with a team of six performers and two children.
‘We all create demons within ourselves, in order to thrash out our inner conflicts. In our Western culture, the word ‘demon’ has extremely negative connotations, whereas in other cultures it means a range of things: wizard, healer, the embodiment of nothingness, the unconscious part of ourselves, a clown, a fallen angel, etc.
To these I would add: the instinct of a child. Not in the sense of the child on the stage, but specifically the adults who are acting around the child.
