To mix cinema and music in a novel and impressive way is the challenge for this very special evening, which will take place in the company of the Symphony Orchestra of La Monnaie and the conductor Philippe Béran. At the heart of this ambitious production, the first of its type in our theatre, is the silent movie Rapsodia Satanica (1914) by the Italian director, Nino Oxilia, the original and powerful music for which was composed by one of the most renowned composers of the period, Pietro Mascagni. How to be young and beautiful again? For the Countess Alba d’Oltrevita a pact with the devil seems the only solution. But is it possible to give up love in order to enjoy eternal beauty? This masterpiece from the early days of Italian cinema takes it inspiration from the Faustian myth, in order to create an original poetic and pictorial atmosphere.
