After Grow or Go and Une Société de Services, Françoise Bloch and her company, Zoo Théâtre, continue their examination of the relationship between theatre and reality. Each show implicitly studies the mechanics of profit, a system that seems beyond us despite our continuous implication.
The fruit of a collective writing project based on documentaries (interviews, surveys and films), Money! attempts to understand how banks operate and explores areas where business and finance convene.
Well-versed in financial jargon, making light of vocabulary and attitudes, four actors take turns being bankers and clients, finance gurus and simple citizens, workers and company auditors and even actors in a show. Music, video and choreography on wheels complete this theatrical hodgepodge bursting with contrast and energy.
What happens to the money we put in our bank accounts? What strings do we pull in the hopes of getting “just a little bit more”? And what if we could rewrite our own role? This show is a playful yet critical investigation that is set into motion by one simple act: a man walks into a bank.
