Andersen’s fairy tale has always been a delight to young and old alike.
Written in 1844, it has travelled all over the world… and all the different versions, from the theatre, to the opera and the cinema, have increased the popularity of this lovely story, written in only five days!
The most recent Disney adaptation is a real triumph.
Taking inspiration from the original tale as well as these later versions, in November 2015 Classi- call and the Opera National d’Ukraine are staging a brilliant and original spectacle.
Calling upon the Ballet of the national Opera and artists from the national school of Kiev Circus – where the principal stars of the Cirque du Soleil be- gan their careers – the Russian choreographer Alla Rubina Davidovna weaves a dynamic story, amidst snowy backgrounds - the digital images are absolutely sensational - and breathtakingly beautiful costumes.
Not only do the forty artists, dancers, mimes, actors and acrobats give this adventure a cohe- rent and complex structure seldom achieved on stage, but the intimate moments in the story will remain in the audience’s memory because of the infinite tenderness they engender…
The little ones will no doubt be impressed by the spectacular scenes such as
the appearance of the Snow Queen on stage while the main thread of the story, in the tradition
of the great Marcel Marceau, be will assumed by a charismatic and fantastic mime artist.
….Great art !
