Kiss & Cry is the first collaboration between film director Jaco Van Dormael and his partner Michèle Anne De Mey. He made his name with gems such as Toto le héros (1991), le Huitième Jour (1997) and Mr. Nobody (2009). She danced for years with Rosas, set up a company of her own called Astragale, and became one of the most significant choreographers in French-speaking Belgium.
With Kiss & Cry they have created an enchanting miniature fairytale that is an ingenious mix of theatre, dance and film. Melancholy, humour and poetry set the tone in this magical story about memories and lost loves.
Kiss & Cry won the 2011 Prix de la Critique for best dance performance, played in the Théâtre National for more than twenty-five sold-out nights, was plagiarised by Chanel in a commercial for nail polish, and has toured countries like Chile, Lebanon, Canada, the US and Finland. ?A world hit, in other words! Now for the first time in Dutch in Brussels, at the KVS.
