Babel (words) at Theatre National

Babel (words) poses the question: what would have happened if man had managed to reach the sky with the famous tower of Babel? Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and his collaborator Damien Jalet are joined by the English artist Antony Gormley to create a show which questions, with humour and humanity, the divisions amongst peoples. A cosmopolitan team of dancers and musicians come together for this project parsing languages ??, identities, cultures, beliefs, and individual passions into a great collective, choreographic maelstrom, staged within a futuristic architectural setting. Between word and movement, meaning and meaninglessness, we find the quest for that which unites us despite our apparent differences: "The human soul is common to us all."
