Set in the 1590’s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of a “Renaissance Rockstar.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, they set out to write the world’s first MUSICAL! Critics and audiences alike went wild for SOMETHING ROTTEN, an outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce that received several Best Musical nominations and was hailed by Time Out New York as, “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years.”

Dereck’s Theatre credits include: Tina Tickle in TICKLE (LAMBCO Productions); Grandma in George’s Marvellous of Medicine (Birmingham Stage); Tin Man in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (PMA Productions); Friar Lawrence and Benvolio in Romeo & Juliet, Mr and Mrs Birling in An Inspector Calls and the title role in Macbeth (all for Arty-Fact Theatre); Mr Pinkerton/Elf in The Elves and the Shoemaker (Support Act); Captain Cholesterol and the Grannies from Mars (Quantum Theatre) Liberty in Liberty Rides Forth ( DK productions ); Quinny in Get 'Em Off and Don in Grindr The Opera! (both for Above The Stag). Panto credits include Pamplemousse in Sleeping Beauty and Benevola, the Fairy, in Rapunzel (Chipping Norton); Widow Twankey in Aladdin and Sarah the Cook in Dick Whittington (Jordan Productions) Queen Victoria Sponge in Sleeping Beauty (Embassy Theatre, Skegness), Dame Dolly Donuts in Dick Whittington (Duncan/Reeves productions ) and Dame Herda Gerda in Frostbite (Lambco Productions). For several years, he portrayed one of Cinderella’s Ugly Sisters at many venues across the country including Luton, Stevenage, Redditch and Potters Bar. Dereck is delighted to be returning to the Drayton Arms Theatre as Harold Thropp in TWINKLE
