Akeelah and the Bee, adapted by Cheryl L. West from the original screenplay, follows the journey of Akeelah, a young girl passionate about words who navigates the challenges of her Chicago neighborhood while preparing for the Scripps National Spelling Bee. With community support, Akeelah learns to embrace her courage and tenacity, making this an inspiring tale for all ages. Directed by Jerrica D. White, the production is set to run from March 20 to April 13, 2025, at Baltimore Center Stage.
