The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is preparing to welcome Charlie Brown and the Peanuts Gang for a special presentation of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown this spring. The family friendly musical based on the Charles M. Schulz comic strip will play a limited engagement of four performances only at the theatre. Known for its Mainstage productions, which have included regional premieres as well as, classic Broadway productions, and its one-of-a-kind Children's Theatre, which bring original musical adaptations of fairytales to life on the stage, Way Off Broadway is set to blend the two for what is being billed as a "Family Theatre" presentation. Performances of Charlie Brown will be on May 18, 19, 26, and 27, 2010.

You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown tells the story of an average day in the life of the famous comic strip child hero, Charlie Brown. Joining him is his beloved dog, Snoopy, who thinks he is the German fighter pilot known as The Red Baron; Linus, who forever needs his security blanket; Linus's sister Lucy, a battle?ax in the making; Sally, Charlie Brown's precocious little sister; and the pianist Schroeder, who loves Beethoven. Throughout the show, they deal in their own special ways with such juvenile concerns as baseball, sibling rivalry, unrequited love, and school.

You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown has book, music, and lyrics by Clark Gesner; with additional dialogue by Michael Mayer; and additional music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. Way Off Broadway's production is being stage by Jordan Stocksdale with a cast that includes Jonny Kigin as Charlie Brown, Gary Bernard DiNardo as Linus, Trey T. Kiska as Schroeder, Amanda Patten as Sally, Jordan Stocksdale as Snoopy, and Taylor Whidden as Lucy.

"We've been very interested in bringing special events to the theater," says Justin M. Kiska, Way Off Broadway's President and Managing Director. "Charlie Brown is the perfect show to kick off our family theatre presentations. Not only is it a popular Broadway and regional theater show, the Peanut characters are a large part of our entertainment culture, and the show itself has not been staging in Frederick for quite some time."

Charlie Brown runs May 18, 19, 26, and 27, 2010. Doors open for seating at 6:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children (12 and younger). Ticket may be purchased by calling the Box Office at (301) 662-6600.
