The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, the Frederick area's only year-round professional producing theatre, has announced its 2016 Season. Producers for the theatre are excited to bring the line-up of shows to the theatre because it will mark an expansion of Way Off Broadway's Mainstage season. Since 2004, the theatre located in the Willowtree Plaza off of Route 40 West in Frederick has produced five Mainstage shows each season. The 2016 Season will mark the beginning of a six show season for Way Off Broadway. In addition, all six shows will be first-time productions for Way Off Broadway, never having been staged by the theatre before.
"We are extremely excited about next year's season," says Bill Kiska, Way Off Broadway's Executive Producer and CEO. "We have been discussing expanding the season for some time now and the 2016 calendar looked like it was the right time to announce our new six show Mainstage season. This will allow us to bring one more fantastic Broadway show to the area each year."
The season will set sail in January with the Cole Porter song and dance musical Anything Goes as theatre guests join Reno Sweeney and Moonface Martin onboard the S.S. American for high-seas fun and entertainment. Following the 2016 Season-opener in the spring will be the hilarious backstage farce Noises Off. From slamming doors to more drama off stage than on, Noises Off is arguably one of the funniest plays ever written.
With the introduction of the six show season, the summer will offer two musical comedies. The first, kicking off the summer, is the riotous Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, where the audience becomes part of the show as six students compete for the top prize. That will be followed by Spamalot from the comic geniuses behind Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Once all of the laughing has died down from the two summer comedies, audiences will journey Into the Woods with the modern classic that brings many of everyone's favorite fairytale characters together for one musical adventure. Rounding out the season will be the original holiday production A Very Merry Christmas, combining songs from Christmases past and present to make for the perfect evening of holiday fun for the entire family.
"The season has something for everyone," adds Justin M. Kiska, the theatre's President & Managing Director. "Whether you like irreverent comedies, a good old fashioned farce, or classic musicals, you're going to be able to find it right here at Way Off Broadway next year."
Making Way Off Broadway a unique entertainment destination is the fact that in addition to a full stage production, tickets also include a dinner buffet, with the serving staff made up of the performers from the show.
Performances are every Friday and Saturday evening, with matinees on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of each month. For the evening performances, doors open for dinner at 6:00 p.m. with the show beginning at 8:00 p.m. For the Sunday matinees, doors open at 12:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 2:15 p.m. Season tickets for 2016 are now on sale and can be purchased by visiting the theatre or calling the Box Office at 301.662.6600. A Season Subscription package includes six tickets for only $234, offering an almost 20% discount over the regular ticket price.

2016 WAY OFF BROADWAY MAINSTAGE SEASON
ANYTHING GOES
January 15 - February 20, 2016
The S.S. American is sailing between New York and England with a comically colorful assemblage of passengers: Reno Sweeney, a popular nightclub singer and former evangelist, her pal Billy Crocker, a lovelorn Wall Street broker who has come aboard to try to win the favor of his beloved Hope Harcourt (who is engaged to another passenger, Sir Evelyn Oakleigh), and a second-rate conman named Moonface Martin, aka "Public Enemy #13." Song, dance, and farcical antics ensue as Reno and Moonface try to help Billy win the love of his life.
NOISES OFF
March 4 - April 23, 2016
This play-within-a-play captures a touring theatre troupe's production of Nothing On in three stages: dress rehearsal, the opening performance, and a performance towards the end of a debilitating run. Michael Frayne gives us a window into the inner workings of theatre behind the scenes, progressing from flubbed lines and missed cues in the dress rehearsal to mounting friction between cast members in the final performance. Brimming with slapstick comedy, Noises Off is a delightful backstage farce, complete with slamming doors, falling trousers, and, of course, flying sardines.
THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE
May 6 - July 9, 2016
An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home life, the tweens spell their way through a series of [potentially made-up] words hoping to never hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! A riotous ride complete with audience participation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is an award-winning laugh extravaganza.
MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT
July 22 - September 17, 2016
Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur's quest to find the Holy Grail, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people. Throughout the show, Arthur, traveling with his servant Patsy, recruits several knights to accompany him on his quest, including Sir Bedevere, Sir Robin, Sir Lancelot and Sir Galahad. On their way, they meet the Lady of the Lake, Not Dead Fred, the Black Knight, and the Knights who say Ni. Did we mention the bevy of beautiful show girls?
INTO THE WOODS
October 7 - November 12, 2016
Everyone's favorite classic storybook characters come together in one enchanting modern musical. The story follows a Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to attend the King's Festival, and Jack who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and run into Little Red Riding Hood, dashing princes, a maiden trapped in a tower, and a mysterious man along the way. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them all with disastrous results.
A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS
