The holidays are always the busiest time at The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre and Children's Theatre. Over the years, some of the most popular shows at the theatre have been its Christmas productions. From Frosty the Snow Man to Santa's elves to the furry characters from the children's book Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree, they have all helped to celebrate the joy of the season in the Children's Theatre at one time or another.
This season's holiday production will add a new show to the Children's Theatre collection as Way Off Broadway works its magic on a true Christmas classic with the original children's musical Clara & the Nutcracker Prince. Written by Bill Kiska, Way Off Broadway's Executive Producer, Clara & the Nutcracker Prince is a musical adaptation based on the works of E.T.A. Hoffmann and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Drawing on Tchaikovsky's ballet, Clara and the Nutcracker Prince carries the audience away as the Prince introduces Clara to a world of fantasy. From the Sugar Plum Fairy to the Mouse King, Clara is taken on a magical holiday adventure neither she nor the audience will ever forget.
Making her first appearance in the Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway are Chelsea Bondarenko. Joining her onstage is a cast of Children's Theatre veterans made up of Jessica Billones, Matthew Crawford, Ryan Patrick Kane, Bill Kiska, Jaimie Lea Kiska, Sarah Melinda, Jordan B. Stocksdale, and Joseph Waeyaert as the Nutcracker Prince.
Way Off Broadway's production of Clara & the Nutcracker Prince runs from November 10 – December 29 and is directed by Jordan B. Stocksdale with original lyrics by Kiska and Stocksdale.
Children's Theatre performances are every Saturday afternoon and the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month, as well as select added weekday performances throughout the run.
