Way Off Broadway's Children's Theatre Summer Camp is one of the most popular summer acting programs in the area. Since it first began 15 years ago, more and more young people have become interested in performing and learning about live theatre. While the Frederick area is lucky to have many theatre educational opportunities, it has become paramount for parents to find the right program that fits their child's needs and interests.
For the 2012 Children's Theatre Summer Camp, Way Off Broadway has shaken up its program, adding brand new camp sessions for the first time since 2006. In addition to new camps, the existing programs will also be revamped keeping with the changes in times and interests.
"We want to make sure everything is always fresh and new," says Bill Kiska, Way Off Broadway's Executive Producer and one of the summer camp instructors. "Children's interests are always changing, so we're always trying to keep up with that whether in our Children's Theatre productions or our classes and camp."
Way Off Broadway will again offer Drama and Musical Theatre sessions for various age groups, ranging from 6 – 16. This year, two "Mini-Master Classes" and a Princess Charm School will also be added to the line-up.
Not only will there be new camps at Way off Broadway this summer, two new instructors will also be joining the summer camp. Tina M. Bruley will be taking over the Drama Camps while Jaimie Hoover will be heading up the new Princess Charm School.
