The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre and Children's Theatre has announced that it will cut ticket prices now thru May 20th. The new ticket prices will be $38 for dinner and show to see the current Mainstage production of Jekyll & Hyde – The Musical and $13 for lunch and show for the Children's Theatre's presentation of The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley.
Over the last several years, with the downturn in the economy, theatres across the country have been forced to raise their ticket prices in an effort to keep up with their own increasing costs. This has been a problem many businesses, of all sizes, have had to face. In the end though, it has hurt ticket sales. As ticket prices have gone up, it has been harder and harder for people to continue going to live theatre, which in turn has forced a number of theatres to close.
For the last two seasons, Way Off Broadway has done everything it can to keep its ticket prices steady and avoid having to raise prices. Now, the theatre is going a step further and cutting its prices.
"Not only do we want to encourage people to continue to go see live theatre," says Justin M. Kiska, Way Off Broadway's President & Managing Director, "we want to try and make it a little bit easier for them."
The change in ticket prices represents a more than 15% cut in Mainstage tickets from a regular Saturday night price of $46, and a more than 20% cut in Children's Theatre tickets.
