Transgendered author, playwright and performance artist Kate Bornstein will perform two original theatre performances, presented by the Towson University Department of Theatre Arts.  The performances will be held on Thursday, February 16th - Gender Outlaw, and on Friday, February 17th - Queer and Pleasant Danger.  Both performances begin at 8PM, at the TowsonUniversityCenter for the Arts New Studio Theatre, located at the TU campus, on the corner of Osler and Cross Campus Drives.  Tickets are $10 and $5 for students with ID.  For more information, call 410-704-2787.

Kate Bornstein is a transgendered author, playwright and performance artist.  Her books Gender Outlaw: On Men, Women, and the Rest of Us and My Gender Workbook are currently used in over 120 colleges.  Bornstein wants people to think of gender as more than simply "male" or "female".  She believes that gender is a rainbow spectrum and everybody is free to explore it at will.

The performance piece Gender Outlaw is a mix of dramatic monologues, slam poetry and gently interactive lecture that is tailored to take any audience on an explorative journey of gender roles, sexuality and societal perspectives that shape the individual and challenge one to have the courage to freely be themselves.

Bornstein will be in residence through the MFA in Theatre's Guest Artist Program at TowsonUniversity.  She will be working in rehearsals with the cast of Cloud 9 (to be presented later this spring) and teaching Graduate Performance Theory on Thursday, February 16 from 3:30 to 6:15PM.
