Center Stage was host tonight for a lively discussion on Israeli politics only hours after Prime Minister Ariel Sharon became seriously ill.

"Reflections on Rabin: His Life & His Legacy" featured Israeli playwright, Motti Lerner, Yuval Rabin, son of the deceased Israeli leader, Yitzhak Rabin, and Christopher Leighton, Executive Director of Baltimore's Institute for Christain-Jewish Studies.

Center Stage is presenting Lerner's American premier of his play, "The Murder of Isaac" Feb. 3- March 12. The controversial play received its world premiere in Germany.

The playwright has said "The Murder of Isaac" is about the collective fears and anxieties of Israeli Society, but it's also an attempt to discover why people universally are still ready to take part in wars. We are trying to understand why society hasn't found better ways to handle our affairs, why it still sees war as an option..."

A crowd of over 200 listened intently to a lively discussion about the play, comparing Sharon and Rabin, and the stakes for peace in the middle east.

Other Wednesday evening discussions will take place on January 18 and February 1 @ 6:30 p.m.

On Sunday, February 19th @ 6 p.m. there will be a community forum featuring performances from young Jewish and African-American artists exploring the question: "Does War make Peace?"
