The Mobtown Playwrights Group will conclude its 2010-2011 season with a complete production of Fools Call It Fate, a new full-length play by Jessica McHugh. The show will run July 22 through August 6 at the Mobtown Theater in Hampden. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 P.M., with one Sunday performance on July 31 at 4 P.M.

In Fools Call It Fate, six characters find themselves entwined in each other's lives, sharing each other's secrets, and enacting each other's darkest fantasies of revenge. Will Gabby prevent Sophie from stealing her husband, Richard, or will Sophie free Richard to follow his heart? (Does Richard even have a heart?) Will Ash allow Danny to victimize his new girlfriend, Tara? Will Tara allow Richard to shut down her muffin shop? Will No One win in the end? These and other questions will be answered in this dark comedy.

The cast includes Deb Carson, William Carson as Ash, Brian S. Kraszewski as Danny, Melissa O'Brien as Sophie, Rachael Lee Rash as Tara, and Steven Shriner as Richard. Mark C. Franceschini, who helmed Mobtown's hit production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot last spring, directs.

The Mobtown Theater is located at 3600 Clipper Mill Road in Baltimore. For more information, visit www.mobtownplayers.net or search Facebook for Fools Call It Fate.

The Mobtown Playwrights Group is dedicated to giving playwrights an opportunity and a venue in which to workshop and produce new plays for an audience committed to the process of new play development. McHugh's play, along with two others, was selected from more than 30 scripts submitted last summer to receive staged reading; of these three plays, the board of the Mobtown Players selected Fools Call It Fate to receive a complete mainstage production.
